The U16’s will have to do it all again after drawing with Portumna in the final of the U16 championship.

Despite the poor conditions the game went ahead in Ballinasloe last Sunday evening. Playing against the wind in the first half the lads got off to a great start scoring 4 points but missing a few chances in the first 15 minutes.

Portumna came fighting back and went in level at half time on a low scoreline 0-4 to 0-4. The second half saw Cashel get the first score but for the next 20 minutes Portumna got on top scoring 3 goals to put 5 points between the teams going into the last 6 minutes. Despite this the lads kept going, working extremely hard in the soft underfoot conditions and with 2 minutes left levelled the game with a goal from Padraic Casserly.

This was to be the last score of the game and we will have to do it all again. This was a brilliant fight back and the lads never say die attitude is a tribute to their determination and training. Best on the day were Padraic Casserly, Aaron Broderick, Cathal Ryan, Dara Flynn, Adam Mooney and Dara McDonagh.
