Castlegar were beaten by a better balanced Clarinbridge squad in the County U-13(A) final on a scoreline 1-12 to 1-06

. A slow start and needless frees saw Cashel go five points down before a Jack Coyne free opened the Cashel account. With Philip O’Connor and Robert Griffin playing well in defence and Jack causing trouble in the ‘Bridge defence two great goal scoring chances went a begging.

Oisin Connolly hit over a fine point but the ‘Bridge responded with two pointed free's leaving the half time score 0-7 to 0-2. The ‘Bridge looked like destroying Cashel with two points and when the defence failed to deal with a long clearance, Alan Duggan make a great save but the rebound was batted to the net leaving it 1-09 to 0-02. A pointed free and three cracking points from play by Jack Coyne saw all the Cashel team finally raise their game and a couple of good saves by the ‘Bridge goalie could have made it so different.

A scrambled goal by Oisin Connolly finished the Cashel scoring but it came too late. The team would have to be commended on how they finished the game but a lot of players failed to make any impression for long periods in this final. Alan Duggan was solid in goal, John O’Connell, Martin Connolly and Daniel Keary all had a good final quarter. Cathal Wall and Oisin Connolly had their moments at midfield but up front Jack Coyne fought a lone battle.
