Castlegar U13’s qualified for the final of the championship with a hard fought win over Kilconieron last weekend.

The game was changed on the Friday due to Athenry becoming unavailable as per the senior county board for the semi-final.

The Pitch in Ballindereen was in great condition and the lads got off to a great start with scores from Jack Coyne and a goal from Aaron Connolly after great work from Matthew Kilgannon.

The lads led by a goal at half time but Kilconieron came out very determined in the second half and were one point up within 5 minutes of the re-start. Despite this and being under huge pressure the lads dug in and another goal form Aaron Connolly and some points from Jack saw the lads hold on for a 2 point win.

Best on the day were Alan Duggan in goal, Philip O’Connor, Daniel Keary and Martin Connolly. They now play Clarinbridge in the final on the weekend of 15th/16th October.
